Israeli strikes harm 100 children daily in Gaza, says UN

At least 100 Palestinian children have been killed or injured each day in Gaza since Israel broke the ceasefire on March 18, the head of UNRWA said.

Medical director says al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City has no space left to treat casualties as the latest Israeli attacks kill at least 38 Palestinians since dawn on Friday.

At least 1,249 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel resumed large-scale strikes on the enclave after breaking a ceasefire on March 18. The number of injured since the Israeli attacks restarted now stands at 3,022, Gaza’s Health Ministry also said.

According to the ministry, the figures include 86 people killed in the past 24 hours and 287 wounded.

The ministry also reports that the overall death toll in Gaza has reached 50,609 since the war began on October 7, 2023.

The number of people injured in Gaza since that date stands at 115,063.

Israeli soldiers have carried out raids on the towns of Kafr ad-Dik and Burqin, located west of Salfit, Wafa news agency reported.

Citing local sources, it said Israeli troops fired live ammunition and sound bombs. No injuries were reported.

Israel’s military launched its largest assault on the occupied West Bank in decades in January. An estimated 40,000 Palestinians have been forced from their homes during ongoing attacks.

Over the past two weeks, more than 280,000 people have been displaced in Gaza, “I swear to God that I am staying in the street, there is no shelter here,” Hemam al-Rifi, 40, told Reuters news agency, noting that members of his family were killed when the Gaza City school complex they sheltered in was hit by Israel’s deadly strike on Thursday.

“My house was destroyed at first, and I stayed in a tent in a school, not a classroom, and now I don’t know where to go.”
