Cowboys, Chiefs to go face-to-face on Thanksgiving

Listen to article

NFL fans are in for a Thanksgiving Day treat as two of the league’s biggest stars prepare to face off in one of the most anticipated matchups of the 2025 season.

Patrick Mahomes and the reigning AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs will travel to Dallas to take on Dak Prescott and the Cowboys in a high-profile Week 13 clash at AT&T Stadium, CBS announced Wednesday morning.

The game, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 27, marks Mahomes’ first NFL appearance in Arlington, just 80 miles from his hometown of Tyler, Texas.

The two-time MVP grew up a Cowboys fan but has only faced Dallas once professionally — a 19-9 Chiefs win in 2021, in which neither he nor Prescott threw a touchdown pass.

Prescott, however, holds bragging rights from their earlier unofficial duel, when he threw for two touchdowns in a 28-17 victory over the Chiefs in 2017, with Mahomes still a rookie watching from the sidelines.

This Thanksgiving clash will be part of a grueling stretch for both teams.

Dallas is slated to face 10 playoff teams from last season, including all of the top seven scoring defenses.

Kansas City’s schedule is equally loaded, with rematches against all three of their 2024 postseason opponents — the Texans, Bills, and Super Bowl champion Eagles — and a Christmas Day game at home against Denver.

The Week 13 showdown also carries historic weight. It will be Kansas City’s first Thanksgiving appearance since 2006.

The Chiefs have a 5-5 all-time record on the holiday, while the Cowboys, traditional Thanksgiving hosts since 1966, boast a 34-22-1 record.

The full 2025 NFL schedule will be unveiled Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on NFL Network and across digital platforms.

NFL has already released its slate of international games throughout the remainder of 2025.

But for now, the Mahomes-Prescott duel is already shaping up to be one of the season’s defining games.
