Emotional tribute to father following his death

Listen to article

Bollywood actress and dancer Malaika Arora has issued her first statement following the tragic death of her father, Anil Mehta.

Malaika, who is widely known for her work in the Indian film industry, expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

Anil Mehta, 67, reportedly took his own life by jumping from the roof of his residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area on the morning of September 11.

The actor’s ex-husband, Arbaaz Khan, along with senior police officers, was seen at her residence following the incident.

Authorities have cordoned off the building and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

As of now, the reasons behind Anil’s suicide remain unclear..

In a heartfelt message posted on her official Instagram account, Malika said, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend.”

Malika’s statement continued to highlight the family’s grief, “Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect.”

Anil Mehta, a former Indian Merchant Navy officer, originated from the border town of Fazilka.

After separating from Malaika’s mother when she was 11 years old, Malaika, her sister Amrita, and their mother moved to Chembur.

In earlier interviews, Malaika reflected on her childhood as a blend of both joyous and difficult experiences.

She noted that the separation played a crucial role in developing her strong sense of independence and resilience.

“Those early lessons are the cornerstones of my life and professional journey. I am still fiercely independent. I value my freedom and live life on my terms,” she had remarked in a past interview.
