Arnold Schwarzenegger gets real about falling for America

Arnold Schwarzenegger said he fell in love with America when he was a kid.

The iconic star grew up in Austria, but even back then, he dreamed about moving to the US and starting a new life there.

Schwarzenegger shared with The Wall Street Journal newspaper: “At age ten, I fell in love with America. That came from watching film rolls in school. The teacher would advance the strips by turning a knob, showing one image at a time. I was blown away.

“They were about things like the Empire State Building, the Golden Gate Bridge and cars with huge fins driving on U.S. highways with six lanes on each side. All of it was over the top.”

The Terminator star always dreamed of becoming rich and well-known in America. He began with bodybuilding but always aimed to break into Hollywood.

He continued, He said: “I’d never seen anything like it — the glamor, the lights and the houses. I said to myself, ‘What am I doing here?’ I wanted to be in America and to become famous and rich.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger was a top name in bodybuilding, but deep down, he wanted to be in films. He said he spent most of his time working out while dreaming of seeing himself on the big screen.
